A Holter monitor is a small, battery-powered medical device that measures your heart's activity, such as rate and rhythm. Your doctor may ask you to use one if they need more information about how your heart functions than a routine electrocardiogram (EKG) can give them. Usually, the cardiologist or primary care physician wants the monitor worn from 24 – 48 hours but can be longer in some cases. The monitor collects data and transmits it to Preventice Solutions who provides the equipment and monitoring service to RCA. Click here for detailed instructions.
You’ll be given a 30 minute appointment to be fitted with a Holter. Once the monitoring service is done, return the unit to RCA within three business days. If the monitoring was ordered by your primary care physician, RCA will forward the results directly to them. Otherwise, you will be given a follow up appointment at RCA to discuss the results.
